3. Where can I buy an ItaliaForno oven?

ItaliaForno pizza ovens are available directly through our official website, italiaforno.com, ensuring authentic products, warranty protection, and dedicated customer support — and through authorized dealers.

4. How durable are ItaliaForno ovens?

ItaliaForno ovens are proudly manufactured in Italy by a family-driven maker founded over 60 years ago in Sicily. Built on the entrepreneurial vision of Giuseppe, our manufacturing partner continues to honor traditional Italian craftsmanship with meticulous attention to detail and high-quality materials.

Each oven features a refractory cooking floor and durable construction designed for long-term outdoor performance when properly maintained.

5. What temperature can an ItaliaForno oven reach?

Most ItaliaForno ovens can reach temperatures up to 500°C (1000°F).

However, for the integrity and longevity of the oven, we recommend operating no higher than 450°C (approximately 850°F) for regular cooking.

This temperature is ideal for:

  • Authentic Neapolitan-style pizza

  • Proper crust rise and leopard spotting

  • 60–90 second pizza cook times

  • High-heat roasting and searing

6. Where should my pizza oven be placed?

Install your ItaliaForno oven on:

  • A stable, level, heat-resistant surface

  • A non-combustible base

  • With proper clearance from walls and combustible materials

A compatible cart is available for mobility and convenience.

7. Can an ItaliaForno oven be installed indoors?

Some models may be suitable for indoor installation only with proper ventilation and full compliance with local building and fire codes. Always consult a licensed professional before installing indoors.

8. Do I need a chimney or flue?

To clean the chimney on your ItaliaForno gas pizza oven, first ensure the oven is completely cool, then remove the chimney cap and brush the interior to clear soot, dust, or debris before wiping it clean and reassembling securely. Gas ovens do not produce creosote like wood-fired ovens, but periodic inspection every few months helps maintain proper airflow and efficient combustion. Keeping the chimney clear supports a stable blue flame, optimal heating performance, and long-term oven integrity.

9. How long does it take to heat up?

ItaliaForno gas pizza ovens typically reach cooking temperature in approximately 15 minutes, making them ideal for weeknight meals and spontaneous entertaining.

10. Why does the oven smell during first use?

A light odor during the first firing is normal. This occurs as protective coatings cure and internal materials settle under high heat. The smell will dissipate after initial use.

11. How to Ignite Your ItaliaForno Gas Oven

Lighting your oven is simple and typically takes about 15 seconds.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open your propane tank valve fully.

  2. Turn the control knob to the ignition position.

  3. Press the knob inward firmly to release gas.

  4. While holding the knob in, activate the ignition spark.

  5. Once the flame appears, continue holding the knob in for approximately 15 seconds.

  6. Release the knob slowly. The flame should remain lit.

Your oven is now ready to preheat.

If It Takes Longer to Ignite

It is completely normal for ignition to take slightly longer in certain situations, including:

  • When the oven hasn’t been used for an extended period

  • After replacing or reconnecting a propane tank

  • When air is present in the gas line

  • In colder outdoor temperatures

In these cases, you may need to hold the knob down slightly longer or repeat the process once to allow gas to fully reach the burner. Once the line is properly primed, lighting becomes quicker and more consistent.

Why You Hold the Knob Down

ItaliaForno ovens are equipped with a built-in thermocouple flame safety system. This safety device ensures gas only flows when a stable flame is detected.

The thermocouple must heat up before it allows the oven to remain lit on its own — which is why holding the knob for about 15 seconds is required.

If the flame were ever extinguished by wind or interruption, the system automatically shuts off the gas supply to prevent unburned gas from flowing.

This timing is intentional and designed for safe, reliable operation.

12. What can I cook in an ItaliaForno oven?

ItaliaForno ovens are versatile high-heat outdoor cooking appliances. You can prepare:

  • Artisan and Neapolitan pizza

  • Bread and focaccia

  • Roasted meats and seafood

  • Vegetables

  • Skillet desserts

13. What cookware is safe to use inside the oven?

Use high-heat-resistant cookware such as:

  • Cast iron

  • Stainless steel

  • Terracotta

  • Pizza stones (not needed thought)

  • Oven-safe ceramic

14. What should the gas flame look like?

A proper flame should be mostly blue with minimal yellow, indicating efficient combustion.

15. What accessories are included?

ItaliaForno ovens typically include:

  • Oven body

  • Refractory cooking floor

  • Chimney components

  • Oven door

  • Thermometer

16. Does the oven require regular maintenance?

ItaliaForno gas pizza ovens require minimal maintenance — simply brush out the cooking floor after each use, keep the oven covered when not in use, and always turn the gas supply off completely after cooking. Regular covering protects the exterior from weather exposure, while routine brushing maintains proper heat performance and cooking consistency. Following these simple steps will help preserve the longevity and integrity of your ItaliaForno oven.

17. How often should I clean the cooking floor?

Brush away food debris after each use and perform deeper cleaning as needed.

19. Is my ItaliaForno oven covered by warranty?

Yes. All domestic ItaliaForno pizza ovens include a 2-year limited warranty from the date of purchase.

This warranty protects against manufacturing and material defects when the oven is installed, operated, and maintained according to official ItaliaForno guidelines.

Proof of purchase is required to initiate any warranty claim.
All warranty claims must be submitted with this documentation to info@italiaforno.com for review.

20. What does the 2-year warranty cover?

The ItaliaForno 2-year warranty covers:

  • Manufacturing defects

  • Material defects

  • Structural components under normal residential use

If a defect is confirmed during the warranty period, ItaliaForno will repair or replace the affected component at its discretion.

21. What is not covered under warranty?

The warranty does not cover damage resulting from:

Misuse or Improper Operation

  • Modifying, altering, or converting the oven in any way

  • Adding components not supplied or approved by ItaliaForno

  • Converting fuel types

  • Using the oven outside its intended design

Extreme Temperatures

  • Operating the oven consistently beyond recommended cooking temperatures

  • Running the oven at maximum output (500°C / 1000°F) beyond recommended guidelines

  • Thermal shock caused by improper heat management

While most ItaliaForno ovens can reach 500°C (1000°F), we recommend regular operation around 450°C (850°F) to preserve the integrity and longevity of the oven.

Improper Fuel Use

  • Burning wood, charcoal, pellets, or any solid fuel in gas-only models

  • Using any fuel source not specified for your specific model

Gas-only ovens must only be used with approved gas fuel sources. Introducing wood or other solid fuels into non-wood-rated ovens voids the warranty.

Installation & Environmental Factors

  • Improper installation

  • Failure to follow clearance and ventilation requirements

  • Commercial use of residential-rated models (unless specified)

  • Weather damage, neglect, or lack of maintenance

Normal wear and tear, cosmetic changes from heat exposure, and consumable components are also excluded.
